Why to invest in the Kotak Global Innovation Fund of Fund?
Here are a few reasons to invest in such funds.
1) This fund would invest in global innovation companies like Facebook, Alphabet (Google), Visa, Netflix etc. (from USA), AstraZeneca (UK), Aptiv (Ireland) and China gas holdings, Tencent Holdings etc., (China). Investing in global innovation companies are best bet for medium to long term investment.
2) It is investing in an existing international mutual fund scheme that has performed well in the last 3+ years. This fund delivered 27% annualized returns since inception (3+ years).
3) Investing in international funds would help in diversification as well as access to international markets.
4) The returns from such funds are tax efficient. These funds are classified like debt funds for taxation purpose. One can benefit from low tax rates on the returns.
Risk factors of investing in such funds
One should consider some of these risk factors / negative factors before investing.
1) International funds might not react to the Indian financial markets. If SENSEX/NIFTY is going up due to bull run, you might not see that in global funds.

Should you invest in Kotak Global Innovation Fund of Fund?
Kotak Global Innovation Fund of Fund (FoF) invests in another existing fund outside India that invests across America, Europe and other emerging markets. Bull run or bearish stock markets in Indian economy would not have a major impact of such funds as they do not invest in Indian equities. Investing in international or global funds are high risk. There are geo-political and currency risks. This fund invests in an existing mutual fund where such fund past performance is known for over 3+ years. Currently the global economies are in bull run even during this covid-19 crisis. High risk investors can invest through SIP or atleast in 3-6 lots instead of lump sum as global stock markets are at peak. Moderate to low-risk takers can stay away from such funds.

Hi Suresh Sir, please provide your opinion on following portfolio of aggressive investor with sole purpose of wealth creation for long period. Currently SIP of 5000 Inr. each per month. Do you suggest any other addition of fund is necessary like Large Cap, small cap or index fund in this portfolio.
PGIM Mid Cap fund
Parag Parikh Flexi cap fund
Kotak Global Innovation FOF
Midcap and flexicap is good.
In global funds, I perfer NASDAQ fund or S&P 500 Fund. You can check MO NASDAQ 100 FoF or MO S&P 500 fund.
Add one index or large cap fund like UTI Nifty index fund or Canara Robecco blue chip fund
Small funds are high risk too like midcap. If you are still okay, you can add Kotak Smallcap or PGIM smallcap fund
Thanks for suggestions. Your suggestions are very helpful. Many of my friend follows your blogs. Currently Motilal Ostwald Global fund not open for investment due to CAP limit from SEBI, so shall we wait or we can check in below Global fund options which are open for investing
1.Aditya Birla SL NASDAQ 100 FOF
2.DSP Global Innovation fund
3.Invesco EQQQ NASDAQ 100 ETF FOF
4.Kotak NASDAQ100 FOF
5.Navi NASDAQ 100 FOF
6.Navi US Total Stock Market FOF
In case of Mid cap and small cap please provide your review on Quant Midcap and Quant small cap fund.
In small cap and midcap category do we have option to invest in index fund rather than active option? If option is available, please suggest good small and midcap index fund.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
I would suggest you wait. Till such time park in simple liquid fund or ultra short term fund. Since your time frame is longterm, once SEBI limits removed, just invest in 3-4 lots of the lumpsum what you are accumulating now.
All other global funds have their own investmnet objective. Some perform well in short term. But if your goal is long term, go for NASDAQ 100 or S&P 500 funds only. Check investment objectives of NASDAQ 100 funds. Some of them invest in other options in NASDAQ 100 index. Don’t go for it. Invest in funds that purely invest in NASDAQ 100 index or S&P 500 index stocks only
Thanks Sir, Requesting to provide your review on Quant Midcap and Quant small cap fund.
In small cap and midcap category do we have option to invest in index fund rather than active option? If option is available, please suggest good small and midcap index fund.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
I am personally investing in both of them, hence I need not given seperate views about it.
I was like you where I was checking midcap and smallcap index funds. Since majority of these funds have been floated in last couple of years, I thought I would not take risk at this point of time. You can check Motilal Oswal Small cap index fund as well as midcap index fund. It has low expense ratio of 0.3% compared to other funds which have more than 1%
