State Bank of India Fixed deposits are always been a good option for investors. Last week I got some surplus money and was enquiring about some of the FD interest rates for short term. I believe in investing in large banks rather than investing in small banks. While private banks have been paying good interest rates, I found that SBI FD interest rates are also good for short and medium term. I was reviewing latest SBI Fixed deposit interest rates and thought of sharing them with you

Latest SBI FD interest rates for residents, senior citizens and NRI's which includes SBI FD Rates for SB accounts




1) SBI FD Interest rates for ordinary residents for deposit of less than Rs 1 Crore

  • 7 to 90 days     – 7.50%
  • 91 to 179 days  – 7.50%
  • 180 to 210 days – 6.80%
  • 211 to 364 days – 7.50%
  • 1 year to less than 2 years – 9.00%
  • 2 year to less than 3 years – 9.00%
  • 3 year to less than 4 years – 9.00%
  • 4 year to less than 5 years – 9.00%
  • > 5 years – 9.00%

2) SBI FD Interest rates for ordinary residents for deposit of Rs 1 Crore and above.

  • 7 to 60 days – 9.00%
  • 61 to 364 days – 8.25%
  • 1 year to less than 2 years – 8.75%
  • 2 year to less than 3 years – 8.75%
  • 3 year to less than 4 years – 8.75%
  • 4 year to less than 5 years – 8.75%
  • > 5 years – 8.75%

3) SBI FD Interest rates for Senior Citizens for deposit of less than Rs 1 Crore




  • 7 to 90 days      – 7.50%
  • 91 to 179 days  – 7.50%
  • 180 to 210 days – 6.80%
  • 211 to 364 days – 7.50%
  • 1 year to less than 2 years – 9.25%
  • 2 year to less than 3 years – 9.25%
  • 3 year to less than 4 years – 9.25%
  • 4 year to less than 5 years – 9.25%
  • 5 years and above             – 9.25%

4) SBI FD Interest rates for Senior Citizens for deposit of Rs 1 Crore and above

  • 7 to 60 days – 9.25%
  • 61 to 364 days – 8.50%
  • 1 year to less than 2 years – 9.00%
  • 2 year to less than 3 years – 9.00%
  • 3 year to less than 4 years – 9.00%
  • 4 year to less than 5 years – 9.00%
  • 5 years and above             – 9.00%

5) SBI FD Rates and reinvestment plan maturity amounts

Rs 100 would be re-invested in re-investment plan (interest would be paid at maturity and not annually) and following would be maturity amounts.




  •  6 months – Rs 103.42
  • 12 months – Rs 109.30
  • 24 months – Rs 119.48
  • 36 months – Rs 130.60
  • 48 months – Rs 142.76
  • 60 months – Rs 156.05
  • 72 months – Rs 170.57
  • 84 months – Rs 186.54
  • 96 months – Rs 203.81 (Your money would be doubled within 96 months)
  • 108 months – Rs 222.72
  • 120 months – Rs 243.51

6) SBI Savings Account Interest rates – 4% per annum

7) SBI FD Interest rates for NRE Term Deposits

1 year to 10 years – 9% – Below One Crore and 8.75% for Rs 1 Crore and above.

8) SBI FD Interest rates for NRO Term Deposits (< Rs 1 Crore)

  • 7 days to 60 days      – 7.50%
  • 61 days to 180 days  – 7.50%
  • 180 days to 210 days – 6.80%
  • 211 days to 1 year  – 7.50%
  • 1 year to 10 years  – 9.00%

9) SBI FD Interest rates for NRO Term Deposits (Rs 1 Crore and above)

  • 7 days to 60 days      – 9.00%
  • 61 days to 180 days  – 8.25%
  • 180 days to 210 days– 8.25%
  • 211 days to 1 year    – 8.25%
  • 1 year to 10 years    – 8.75%
