2 Years waiting period

  • One of the draw-back in this HDFC Life Health Assure Plan is that some of the benefits can be availed only after 2 years waiting period. These are expenses incurred for
  • ENT

3 years waiting period for Pre-existing diseases

Second draw-back in this HDFC Life Health Assure Plan is that Pre-existing diseases are covered only after 3 years of policy commencement date.

Conclusion: There are several health insurance policies and all are not unique. Though HDFC Life Health Assure Plan has added some of the benefits like cash benefit, wellness benefit etc. one may not attract towards them. Like any other health policy, this health plan too has put riders about waiting periods for pre-existing diseases for 2 and 3 years. For me, this health policy is like any other health insurance policy with a few added benefits.

  1. Dear Suresh,

Am from Bangalore and Am currently looking for HDFC health assure plan to go for, but am not sure about the public sector, as to how good they are on claims as such, and others. As also I have seen some of the procedures are only covered after 2 or 3 years.

It may happen that before 2 years of taking the policy, I might have issues with health, over, which are covered after 2 years of plan.

Could I know if you would suggest any other health insurance to go for, or would HDFC health assure plan, will be a good one, based on the claims and hassle free service from HDFC.

    regards,
    Sharath kumar

    1. Milind, Out of all the health care policies, I found that there are some or other conditions, hence I felt Reliance is good one. Why you have a doubt on Reliance. Go thru it one more and let me know your exact doubt so that I can clarify you. There are other health policies in LIC too, but they are too expensive.

  3. Dear Suresh,

I am currently having Health plan provided by my employer. However, I wanted to take one more healthe insurance plan and have been searching in the market for a good product. After searching, I found that the Mediclaim policy of United India Insurance is better than other products available with different market players. United India's Mediclaim policy is available at lesser price and adequate features list. But, I am just worrying about the service level as this company is public sector company. Can you pls suggest me shall I go and purchase the product from United India by compromising on service level (I really don't know the service level they are providing) or any other good product available in the market taking care of better price, features and services. Pls suggest.

    Thanks

    1. Ravi, public sector health insurance products comes cheap, but service levels are not that good. It would be difficult to say which one suits you better as there are several parameters attached to it like age, coverage value, premium, coverage of critical illness etc., One policy which I fould was “Reliance health insurance plan” which was unique having major features. You can check the features and try that. https://myinvestmentideas.com/2013/04/reliance-life-easy-care-fixed-benefit-plan-unique-health-insurance-policy/
